Founding

City Harvest Church is a warm and friendly congregation comprising of families, young working adults and college and high school students. Our desire is to be the salt and light for Jesus and we seek to impact the world with the good news of Jesus in a relevant and contemporary manner.

In CHC, we love to worship God. Our services are vibrant, dynamic and filled with passion and the presence of God. Our love for His Word is evident in our responses to the preaching of Scriptures.

BRIEF HISTORY

In the middle of 2005, Pastors Saras & Felina Bany returned to Penang after 8 years in Singapore. Armed with prayers and faith in their hearts they started a cell group in their new home. The cell group grew quickly from 6 people to 15 people in two months.

In August 2005, The Life Church was launched at Fettes Park, Tanjung Tokong. Sharing the premise of a Tamil Church, the Church held its worship service on Saturday evening. The Church grew quickly and ended 2006 with 80 people.

In June 2007, The Life Church was renamed City Harvest Church Penang to reflect its close affiliation with City Harvest Church Singapore.

In November 2007, CHC found its own premise and in the following month, it moved to its current sanctuary at The Bayu, Tanjung Tokong. Service is nowheld on Sunday morning.

In January 2009, CHC started its Chinese Cell Group with just six people. The Cell Group has since grown into a Chinese Service.

As the Church grew, more facilities were needed to accommodate its various ministries and growing congregation. In May 2009, CHC took another floor at The Bayu. The new floor now houses the Church Office, the Chinese Church, the Nursery and Children’s Church as well as a Youth Center.
